about

i'm shawn (sihyun) lee, an undergraduate at carnegie mellon university's school of computer science majoring in cs + ml/systems. i'm an incoming software engineer at jump trading, a teaching assistant for some of cmu's largest cs classes, and a published researcher.


outside of work, i'm passionate about music, photography, climbing, poker, chess — i love creating things that merge logic and artistry.

experience

Jump Trading — SWE intern (Chicago, 2025)

built a low-footprint internal protocol between strategies and exchanges, connecting jump to a new exchange and helping prototype a new high-performance trading subsystem.

Bodo.ai — SWE intern (Pittsburgh, 2024)

managed bodosql's sql decimal coverage project, optimized kernel performance by 300% in c++/mpi, and implemented new sql ddl parser features using javacc.

CMU LTI — Research Assistant (Pittsburgh, 2023)

co-authored "Think Twice: Perspective-Taking Improves Large Language Models' Theory-of-Mind Capabilities" (ACL 2024). developed prompting techniques improving llm tom benchmarks by +29.5%.
